Sometimes the most challenging areas around a home are also the ones with the most potential.

For this project in Bountiful, Utah, Next Gen Hardscapes transformed a narrow side driveway into a cleaner, stronger, and more functional part of the property. With limited space between the home and the surrounding grade, the project required careful planning and a combination of concrete and retaining wall construction to make the most of every available foot.

A sturdy rock paver retaining wall was installed along the edge of the driveway to help manage the elevation change while creating a defined, finished border. In spaces like this, a retaining wall does more than improve the appearance of the property. Properly constructed, it helps hold back surrounding soil, creates a cleaner transition between elevations, and allows the driveway area to remain as open and usable as possible.

Fresh concrete was then poured to create a smooth, durable driving surface that fits naturally alongside the home. Working in a narrow area requires attention to layout, grading, access, and the transitions between the concrete, retaining wall, and existing structure. The goal is not simply to pour concrete, but to build a finished space that looks intentional and performs well for years to come.
